Tokens of Appreciation

August 2022

First, I would like to thank Dr. Abigail Brewer (my former graduate student) and Mr. Justin Knutson (Global Campus student and psychology major) who did the groundwork on the 1st edition of this book, and which made possible the extensive changes in the 2nd edition.

I would also like to thank Mr. Nathan Olivier, Graphic Designer, who created most of the beautiful images in the chapters of this book, unless otherwise noted (i.e., created by the author of the book).

I would like to thank Ms. Skylar Nicholson, a first year experimental psychology graduate student from New Mexico who will serve as a Graduate TA for my PSYCH 265 course at Washington State University in the fall 2022. In preparation for her TA role, I asked her to read the first edition of the OER to get her oriented to the material. I also asked her to identify any sections that need further explanation and any links that are no longer available. These recommendations are included in the 2nd edition of this book.

Finally, I would like to thank Mr. Chris Aspenwall (biochemistry major who took the course and used the 1st edition in Spring 2022) who has proofread the 2nd edition of this book.  His recommendations have also been considered.

And now to my reader. I hope you enjoy the book and please, if you see any issues whether typographical, factual, or just want to suggest some type of addition to the material or another way to describe a concept, general formatting suggestion, etc. please let me know. The beauty of Open Education Resources (OER) is that my team and I can literally make a minor change immediately and without the need for expensive printings of a new edition. And it’s available for everyone right away. If you have suggestions, please email them to either Dr. Lee Daffin or myself (Dr. Ray Quock) using the emails on the title page.

Enjoy the 2nd edition of Drugs and Behavior.
