Case Study 7.5: Mavs Open Press—An OER Publisher Workflow
Based at the University of Texas, Arlington, Mavs Open Press has adopted a workflow that encourages OER authors to consider accessibility from the beginning of their open textbook projects. As detailed in their guidelines on accessibility, the press requires two accessibility evaluations: one informal evaluation early on to proactively guide the writing process and a second, formal check at the end of the project. Assistive devices are used in the second evaluation and the press grades accessibility using its own rubric.
The results of the second evaluation are appended to the open textbook along with instructions for receiving assistance with accessibility issues.
