Case Study 5.4: IUScholarWorks

Like Cornell, the Indiana University Library also encourages authors to submit accessible materials when using the institutional repository, IUScholarWorks. In its “Submission Guide,” the library includes accessibility checks as part of the process for using the IR. Although the library does not require compliance with accessibility standards, Margaret McLaughlin and Jenny Hoops noted in “Web Accessibility in the Institutional Repository” that voluntary accessibility compliance increased by roughly 38% within the first six months of introducing the new submission guide.
